"Our initial experience with Cathie and her team was very positive - They seemed attentive and friendly over 3 years. That quickly changed when we had to submit two unexpected claims within a 6-month timeframe in 2023 (hail damage and a basement flood). From the beginning, I told her I just wanted to make our home whole and this is still ongoing almost a year later. When we received our initial report + payout, I was the one that had to break it down for Cathie - She repeatedly told me that we were responsible for our deductible (which I 100% understood), but my point was what State Farm was covering compared to what the restoration company was charging was off by 4-figures. After several phone calls with Cathie and growing frustration, she stepped in and helped us negotiate a lower amount - This is not something she took initiative to do from the start because she thought the initial payout was "fair." This is just one example of two very frustrating claims processes where you would hope your agent would help to guide you along. State Farm ended up not renewing our home insurance - We found out via letter (not from Cathie who didn't contact us until after the fact). Starting fresh with a new agent and company is for the best, but I would advise anyone to do their due diligence on the frontend prior to selecting Cathie as their agent... Everything was great, friendly, excellent service until we really needed her to step in, advise us and advocate on our behalf."
